The Ritual of Warmth
A Warm Soak, a Deep Breath, and the Art of Slowing Down
There are certain experiences that bring you back into your body almost instantly. For me, hot water is one of them.
This month, I finally made it to Dunton Hot Springs, something I’ve been dreaming about for years. Tucked into the Colorado mountains, the springs are quiet, elemental, and deeply grounding. The moment I stepped into the warm water, I felt my body soften in a way that words barely capture. My breath slowed. My shoulders dropped. The noise in my mind faded into the background.

What stayed with me most wasn’t the destination itself, but how quickly the body remembers what it feels like to be held by warmth.
Heat has that effect. It signals safety to the nervous system. It invites us to slow down, to exhale, to let go.
Growing up in Scandinavia, heat rituals were simply a part of life. Saunas, hot baths, cold plunges, followed by warmth again. These practices weren’t about indulgence or performance. They were about health, circulation, and caring for your whole self. About supporting the body through the seasons. About longevity, stillness, and restoration.

Soaking in the hot springs at Dunton, I felt that familiar sense of home. A reminder that this kind of restoration doesn’t require perfection or luxury. It requires intention.
As the holidays approach, many of us are moving faster than we realize. Our days are full, our minds busy, our nervous systems rarely given a chance to land. This often shows up in the skin. Tension in the jaw. Dullness. Sensitivity. A feeling of being slightly disconnected from ourselves.
This is why I believe so deeply in ritual.
You don’t need a remote retreat to create this feeling at home. You can recreate it in simple ways. A warm bath with mineral-rich salts. Dim lights. No phone. A few deep breaths. Letting the heat do what it’s always done, relax the body, improve circulation, and calm the mind.

Our Bliss-Out Bath Salts were created for this exact purpose. Inspired by the therapeutic benefits of mineral soaks, they help ease tension, support circulation, and invite the body into a state of rest. Paired with warmth, they become more than a bath. They become a ritual.
After soaking, I love applying a few drops of face oil while the skin is warm and receptive. This is when the skin drinks everything in. Gentle facial massage. Slow movements. A moment to come back to yourself.
This is the Scandinavian way. Heat. Stillness. Touch. Simplicity.
Not as something extra to add to your to-do list, but as a way of moving through life with more care.

My wish for you this season is that you find small ways to slow down. That you create moments of warmth, even in the midst of busy days. That you remember your body doesn’t need fixing. It needs support, presence, and gentle care.
Whether that looks like a quiet soak at home, a warm bath by candlelight, or creating your own Dunton Hot Springs experience, my hope is that you give yourself permission to pause.
When we tend to ourselves in this way, everything softens. The skin. The breath. The nervous system. And slowly, we return to balance.
With warmth,
Gunilla 🤍
